About the Course

And you thought you were done with classes when you became a PADI instructor?

There is still more to go! Become a specialty instructor today.

Emergency First Response Instructor
Since CPR and First Aid are requirements for Rescue Diver and Divemaster, doesn’t it make sense to be able to teach this class too? You do NOT need to be a scuba instructor to become an EFR Instructor, this class is for anyone. You can get outside the dive industry as well since many workplaces require CPR training. The market for this class is limitless in homes, businesses and your community.

Specialty Instructor
All instructors will tell you they have a favorite specialty class that they love to teach. The reason is that you can teach the very things YOU do when you go diving!! Take pictures? Teach Digital UW Photo. What about video? Love night diving? Wrecks? Drysuit? Ice diving? Ok, maybe Ice is a stretch but, these are some of the most enjoyable classes to teach. Plus, if you are looking for jobs, the more you can teach, the more your shop can sell and that means a few more coins in your pocket. (Not literally, if they are paying you in coins, you need to ask for a raise.)

You can apply to teach these on your own but taking the corresponding Specialty Instructor class with one of our Course Directors saves you money on the application fee and can get you teaching faster! You will also get formal training in that area as well as hands on practice teaching the course.

DAN Instructor
What dive shop is one of only a handful of DAN Training Centers? Dive Utah, that’s who!! Add a DAN Instructor Trainer to the mix and you are in rare company indeed. We offer a full range of DAN courses both at the student and instructor level. Visit our DAN class page for more details on the courses.

Master Scuba Diver Trainer
Let’s face it, this title sounds way cooler than OWSI. Once you can teach 5 specialties, you qualify as a Master Scuba Diver Trainer (because 5 specialties is one of the requirements for Master Scuba Diver, that’s why it’s called a Master Scuba Diver Trainer - it’s really not that complicated). We offer MSDT packages to get you there faster.

IDC Staff Instructor
Come play with the big boys! As an Instructor Development Course Staff Instructor, you guessed it - you can help with the IDC. You can assist the Course Director by teaching in the classroom as well as evaluating academic, confined water and open water teaching presentations. Plus, you can certify Assistant Instructors on your own. Have you been teaching for a while? Then you really need this class. Think of it as an IDC Refresher as you tune up your skills and polish your presentations. Wax on, wax off Danielsan.

Technical Diving Instructor
Dive Utah can’t be a PADI Rec/Tec Center as well, can it? Oh yes we can! Once you have the experience as a Technical Diver, we can teach you just about every tec class PADI offers. Starting at Self Reliant Diver and moving on to Sidemount, Tec Sidemount, Tec Gas Blender, Tec 40, 45, 50 and 65. We cap it off with Tec Trimix as well. Finding these classes in the Intermountain area is tough. Finding them all under one roof AND with an Instructor Trainer, well that’s like finding a mint Honus Wagner rookie card. Did I forget to mention we teach Rebreather and Advanced Rebreather classes and Instructor Classes? Well that rookie card was just mailed to you with an Inverted Jenny stamp!! Visit our Technical Diving Page for more information on the classes. Visit our Technical Diving Page for more information on the classes.
